One thing we are sure about: There is a crisis in our society. C.S. Lewis identifies the problem in The Abolition of Man , which he penned in 1944. He writes, “And all the time – such is the tragic-comedy of our situation – we continue to clamor for the very qualities we are rendering impossible. You can hardly open a periodical without coming across the statement that what our civilization needs is more drive, or more dynamism, or self-sacrifice , or creativity. In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without [souls] and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful” (475). The Warriors for Christ are in agreement with these words, written by one of the greatest intellectual thinkers of the 20 th century. We pay enormous respect to the prophetic words of Lewis in regards to issues concerning the raising of young men, and we attempt to emulate his rational reasoning for maintenance of a pure faith.
We are also certain that:
It ISN'T about us. Rick Warren writes in his best-selling book, A Purpose Driven Life , life is not about ‘me'. The Warriors for Christ believe that ‘me' is simply another expression for the selfishness that pervades our society today. Rather, we agree with Warren that life is created for the purpose of glorifying God. The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 5:6, “The only thing that matters is faith expressing itself thru love”. The Warriors for Christ accepts this biblical directive for determining how we Glorify God, as we put our faith and love into ACTION.
The Warriors for Christ MISSION STATEMENT is:
Selfless Service!
To this the Warriors for Christ pledge our Sacred Honor.
The Warriors for Christ PURPOSE STATEMENT is:
To show our faith thru actions expressing love. (Galatians 5:6)
To aid widows and orphans in their time of distress. (James 1:27)
To enrich the souls of men so they can be virtuous and men of enterprise. (Lewis)
To encourage and mentor young men to enter the ranks of true manhood. (Lewis)
To exist as living examples of “Warriors for Christ”. (James 1:14-17)
To generate sufficient revenues to remain self-sufficient in our activities.
To create additional revenues thru game events for providing financial assistance to widows and orphans in their times of distress.
To use sports to excite the spirit of challenge and adventure that lies within the hearts of men.
To use paintball as a ‘signature' event/sport, demonstrating the ‘Wild at Heart' mindset that men seek as the focal point to the development of a pure soul focused on service and selflessness.
To field a team of paintball players to compete on the highest levels of tournament play, both scenario and air-ball, exemplifying the Warrior's ethos in the arena of paintball combat, playing with integrity, sportsmanship, and excellence.
